Report hours under Category Bird Monitoring, Activity Bird Safe/Lights Out Hampton Roads
What: Bird Safe/Lights Out Hampton Roads - activities are expanding this year to include volunteers walking specific routes through downtown Norfolk each morning during migration season to locate dead and injured birds, thereby identifying the buildings most dangerous to the birds. Photographic and paper documentation of the locations are needed to create an interactive map on the website birdsafehr.org. We will work with Tidewater Wildlife Rescue for injured birds, and dead birds will be collected and delivered to Walters Lab at ODU for species identification.
When: August 15 - November 15, morning hours between 6-10AM (choose your schedule of #of days/week); each route should take 30-60 minutes to walk
